World Day for Health & Safety at Work 2024

Yesterday, April 28th, was World Day for Safety and Health at Work and commemorate Workers' Memorial Day. A day of recognition acknowledging the importance of workplace safety and remembering those who have lost their lives due to work-related accidents or illnesses.

Safe Work Australia's latest data indicates that in 2022, 195 workers in Australia were fatally injured at work. This concerning statistic amplifies the importance of increasing awareness around work health and safety to prevent work-related injuries and fatalities.

This year's theme for World Day for Safety and Health at Work sheds light on the impact of changing weather patterns on workplace health and safety. As we witness a rise in heatwaves, floods, and other extreme weather events, the normal operations of businesses are increasingly at risk of disruption. Furthermore, the emergence of new technologies and industries focused on decarbonization and the circular economy is ushering in new roles and challenges in workplace safety. Safe Work Australia has a number of free resources available on their website about maintaining safety in construction when faced with severe weather conditions.

Workplace health and safety is an important aspect of our daily operations here at Balmain & Co and we honor World Day for Health and Safety at Work by reaffirming our commitment to fostering a culture of safety. Through our See Something, Say Something, Do Something initiative, we proceed with increased focus on WH&S across all Balmain & Co sites.

By continually increasing our safety standards and raising awareness we strive to create a workplace where every employee feels valued, protected, and empowered.
